Libra Solar Eclipse: Reconciling a Feminine Dichotomy
The Libra Solar Eclipse on October 2nd speaks to a profound dynamic of the feminine, not only is Venus the ruler of the eclipse, but both Black Moon Lilith and Juno are coming to court.
This is the final Libra eclipse (at 9 degrees Libra) within the Aries/Libra Nodal Axis, which began in April 2023. The next, and last, eclipse of this axis will occur in Aries on March 29, 2025.
Cosmic Happenings
Solar Eclipse (Sun and Moon at 9° Libra.) interpretation below.
Mercury (10° Libra) joins the eclipse, sharpening our minds and urging reflection on communication and balance in relationships.
Black Moon Lilith (10° Libra), the shadowy revolutionary, stands defiant at the lunar apogee—the moon’s farthest point from Earth. Lilith embodies the wild, unapologetic feminine who refuses to conform to societal expectations. She represents the fierce independence that challenges the structures of oppression and repression. In this eclipse, Lilith dares us to reclaim our personal power, pushing back against compromise in favor of authenticity.
Juno (18° Libra), the asteroid associated with marriage and partnership, plays the role of the loyal wife—duty-bound and committed. In contrast to Lilith, Juno represents the traditional archetype of relational devotion, upholding the virtues of loyalty within committed partnerships. Her influence here asks us to honor the agreements we've made, ensuring balance and justice within our unions.
October 4th: The Moon aligns with Juno, prompting an emotional reflection on devotion, partnership, and the delicate balance between duty and desire.
October 13th-24th: The Sun will travel within a 2° orb of Juno, illuminating these relational themes and inviting us to explore the equilibrium between self-sovereignty and partnership.
Unpacking the powerful theme of the Libra/Aries Nodal Axis
Libra South Node (6° Libra) urges us to examine the sacrifices we make for the sake of harmony in relationships. Compromise, balance, and reconciliation are all vital for any successful connection, but the South Node asks: At what cost? Have you been giving more than you receive? Are you smoothing over conflicts or avoiding confrontation to maintain peace, even when it’s to your own detriment?
Aries North Node (6° Aries) calls us to reclaim our individuality and establish clear boundaries. It’s a reminder that while relationships require effort, they should never come at the expense of your self-worth or autonomy. The Aries North Node asks: Are you people-pleasing out of fear? Or are you stepping into your power and asserting your needs, unapologetically?
This is the development we’ve been invited to explore—balancing the art of compromise with the courage to stand firm in our truth.
Solar South Node Eclipse Themes
During this Libra Solar Eclipse, the South Node amplifies themes of release and transformation. This is a time to reset, to let go of what no longer serves us so we can create space for something new. You might notice the acceleration of seemingly random events pushing you toward deeper introspection and necessary change. This eclipse is a catalyst for letting go of the old, making room for a more aligned, healthier path forward.
Though the moment may feel fleeting, the effects of an eclipse can reverberate for up to five months, guiding us toward a transformative new beginning.
Eclipse Conjunct Mercury
On Saturday, September 28th, the Sun crosses the South Node, followed by Mercury crossing the South Node on Sunday, September 29th. With the South Node now activated twice, we step into a heightened state of awareness of what needs to be released.
At this point, Mercury enters cazimi—a moment of superior conjunction with the Sun, where the messenger planet is bathed in clarity. While the New Moon may make us feel hesitant or as if we're operating in the dark, our minds remain active and engaged. Enter Mercury: thought is alive, even if action feels paused.
Have you been experiencing information overload lately? Or perhaps you're finding yourself drawn into intense discussions? Libra, the sign of balance and harmony, usually urges us to weigh everything carefully, like the scales, holding space for every perspective before forming an opinion. But this time, the energy feels different.
With the South Node in Libra being triggered, we’re encouraged to peacefully and respectfully stand our ground in what we do know. This isn’t a call to react impulsively or project frustrations onto others. Rather, it’s about engaging with openness and then confidently laying your thoughts on the table.
Your voice matters. Your thoughts are as valuable as anyone else’s.
Black Moon Lilith Conjunct Mercury - Voice to Power
Who is Black Moon Lilith?
In Mesopotamian and Judaic mythology, Lilith is said to have been Adam’s first wife. Unlike Eve, who was created from Adam’s rib, Lilith rose from the very earth, equal to Adam in every way. Her story highlights autonomy, independence, and a refusal to submit—traits that ultimately led to her exile from Eden when she refused to bend to Adam’s will.
Thus, Lilith came to embody the image of the wild, untamed woman—an archetype feared and demonized through the ages. In ancient Hebrew, her name translates to “night monster” or “night creature,” a being believed to curse pregnancies, steal children, and even men’s semen as they slept. This fearsome depiction reflects the way society has often shamed strong, independent women, associating their power with destruction and chaos.
In astrology, Lilith represents the parts of ourselves we keep hidden—the primal desires, unspoken truths, and the shadow aspects we fear will be met with rejection or criticism.
During this solar eclipse, with Black Moon Lilith conjunct Mercury, it’s time for women to embrace their inner Lilith and reclaim their voices. This is an invitation to confront the fears, anxieties, and doubts that have kept you from revealing your true self. For those who have felt silenced—whether socially, intellectually, or within the family—this is the moment to express yourself loudly and proudly.
Lilith urges you to speak your truth, advocate for yourself, and bring forth your deepest desires—not through intimidation, but to foster genuine understanding and connection. It’s time to let your voice, once shuttered, emerge with power and purpose.
But hold on with your Bad Ass Lilith Self; enter Juno—the Ride or Die, Dutiful Wife
Who is Juno?
Juno represents the fullness of feminine energy within a committed partnership. She’s the protector of women, sexuality, fertility, brides, and childbirth. This role evolved in response to her cheating husband, Jupiter, who had many affairs. Juno, jealous and fearful of being replaced on the heavenly throne, punished his love interests.
But here's the real question for Juno: Why not punish the cheating husband? He's the one who made an oath to you. It seems like displaced anger to punish a woman who didn't make any vows. Shouldn’t the focus be on the one who broke the oath?
This reaction embodies the archetype of the stately wife, standing by her man and striving for divine union through all the highs and lows of a relationship. She becomes our guide through the trials and potential of intimate partnerships.
Bottom Line for this Eclipse: Women Reconciling the Rebellious Shrew with the Dutiful Partner
This solar eclipse feels like the perfect time for women to bring balance (Libra) to this ongoing dichotomy in the collective consciousness. History shows us that we've faced many rebellious moments before:
1920: fighting for the right to vote
1937: gaining the right to file for divorce (although until 1969, proof of adultery, cruelty, or desertion was required)
1972: unmarried women earned the right to privacy in regards to contraception
1975: the Equal Credit Opportunity Act granted women the right to their own credit cards.
Despite all the progress, internal fragmentation has often pitted women against one another. In the 70s, the debate centered around whether women should keep their maiden names. The 80s saw heated discussions about working mothers versus stay-at-home moms. In the 90s, single motherhood and what constitutes a family sparked public discourse, most famously illustrated by the controversy between Dan Quayle and the fictional character Murphy Brown. Today, we even question whether childless women have a vested interest in America’s future.
Even as recently as the early 2000s, these divisions were sadly reinforced by women themselves, singing songs that perpetuated harmful stereotypes. Tracks like Avril Lavigne’s Girlfriend and Pink’s Stupid Girls played into narratives of women tearing each other down, rather than supporting and empowering one another.
But here’s the truth: Being a revolutionary, open and honest with good boundaries is not mutually exclusive to being a dutiful wife/partner. Look at John Carville and Mary Matalin-politics; John Legend and Chrissy Teigen- John stating,
"I was always a little bit more buttoned up, and she was always more brash and free. I would get a little nervous at first with some of the things she would say, because I didn't know how people would react. I usually played it more safely," he shared. But ultimately, Legend said, they found strength in their differences: "I think she's brought me out of my shell a bit, and made me enjoy life a little bit more. It's been fun to grow together in that."

You can make being dedicated and dutiful work while maintaining individuality and autonomy. The archetypes of Black Moon Lilith and Juno are polarized expressions of the womanhood spectrum; there are many shades in between.
We as women must respect one another, no matter our choices. If you believe in religious subservience to your husband—You Do You! If you're in need of an abortion—You (should be able to) Do You! The key is providing grace and space for the myriad of ways womanhood may express itself. Even if we personally don’t agree with certain expressions, women should never be barriers of entry when it comes to other women’s access to living their truth.
Ultimately, we need to give ourselves and each other permission to embrace all facets of womanhood. Women are not monolithic, and we should never disparage one another for walking a path that differs from our own.
If we as women want society to provide us with equality and equity, we must first stand united shoulder-to-shoulder in solidarity amongst ourselves in womanhood.
So, during this eclipse, ask yourself… Are there any outdated thoughts or language (Mercury) pertaining to women that require recalibration. Does your own expression of the feminine need a lil adjustment. Is it authentic to who you are? What are your thoughts about women who are not like you and live differently?
I think all things women are going to be red hot this October!
