Virgo-Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse - Breakaway; It’s an opportunity for change!

Virgo Lunar Eclipse - Worm Blood Moon - Friday, March 14th - 23° Virgo. Totality is between 2:26a.m to 3:31a.m.

Mercury Retrograde - Friday March 14th at  8:46p.m. - 9° Aries

Astrological Anatomy of an Eclipse:

  • Eclipses only occur when the Moon is near one of the nodes (north/south or ascending/descending), and the Sun, Earth, and Moon align in a straight line.

  • Eclipses are powerful, disruptive "wild cards" that can bring about significant changes and force us to confront areas of our lives that need attention, often leading to new beginnings or endings.

  • The Nodal points represent our purpose, path, and destiny. They are also known as the "Nodes of Destiny".

    • North Node: indicates our soul’s push towards growth and the needed experiences for us to grow spiritually.  With north node eclipses, people and events tend to serendipitously appear to assist us on your journey.

    • South Node: represents what needs to be left behind in order to experience soul growth and evolve to our potential.  With south node eclipses, events tend to bring endings, to people, situations, behaviors, and thought patterns that need to be shuttered in order for us to grow.

  • Effects of an eclipse may be felt a few weeks before up to a few weeks after the time of the eclipse.  The reverberations of an eclipse can last up to 6 months.

Virgo Worm Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse Overview:

  • This is a south node eclipse, representing endings. The universe is offering us an opportunity to breakaway. While our hearts (moon) and heads (sun) may be in opposition, and the south node conjunct the moon is beckoning us to use our intuition and emotions to help us identify and release old modes of behavior, our comfort zones, situations and people that are no longer serving our soul’s purpose in evolving into our highest self, the harmonious aspects of Uranus and Mars are supporting us in the effort.  Uranus is offering the freedom, sparks of insight, opportunities and encounters to make it happen. While Mars is providing the will and determination to make it happen.

  • But will we?

  • Even retrograde Mercury, which may initially obscure the personal meaning of the eclipse, does supports the internal processing of our thoughts to harmonize whatever external shifts took place with our new personal and spiritual trajectory.

  • In the words of Kelly Clarkson’s song Breakaway, will you  “do what it takes 'til you touch the sky. Make a wish, take a chance, make a change and break away. Out of the darkness and into the sun?”

Individual Aspect Interpretations

  • Sun in Pisces opposite the Moon in Virgo, which is conjunct the South Node

    • This aspect in itself is a balancing act or a push pull energetic of dreamy intuition meeting meticulous practicality.  Empathy and creativity vs. detail and order.

    • With the moon conjunct the South Node we are asked to lean into our intuition, empathy and creativity and let go of our need for perfectionism, control, detail and order.

  • Sun in Pisces conjunct Saturn and the North Node

    • Sun conjunct Saturn

      • Offers two very different scenarios.  The scenario playing out depends upon your past behavior and efforts.  This may prove to be a time of great satisfaction, with achievements, recognition, and promotion. However, it can also be a time of deprivation, insecurity, and hardship. Much depends on your past due diligence, responsibility and accountability over the last year.  The last Sun/Saturn conjunction was February 29, 2024.  What came up around that time?  How did you address the issue?   If you didn’t get it right in 2024, here’s your opportunity for a redo.

    • Sun conjunct the North Node

      • The North Node embodies our conscious motivations that are pertinent to our current and future self.  This aspect beckons us  towards changes necessary for our personal evolution.

  • Sun sextile Uranus

    • This aspect is the universe providing us the freedom needed to try something new and exciting.  Uranus added to the eclipse mix increases opportunities of self-awareness (the Sun) that can come through flashes of insight or from personal encounters or situations.

  • Moon trine Uranus

    • This trine brings feelings of friendliness and open-mindedness, via intuition.  Uranus lowers our inhibitions, allowing us to express our feelings (the Moon) more openly.  It eliminates restrictions; thereby, offering us opportunities for change.  With the moon this may play out more in our private lives.  But the trine allows us to do so without causing upset and chaos.

  • Sun loose trine to Mars

    • Note: This aspect was exact March 8th, but is still in a loose orb, so the impact may not be felt as significantly, but may still be providing an undertone in the eclipse.

    • This is a confidence boosting alignment.  It enhances self motivation, self belief and bravery.

  • Moon loose sextile to Mars

    • Note: This aspect was exact March 8th, but is still in a loose orb, so the impact may not be felt as significantly, but may still be providing an

    • Here competitiveness (Mars) meets cooperation (the moon).  Success is achieved via a warm, attractive push.

  • Mercury Rx - less than 24 hours after the eclipse.

    • This shift may make it hard for us to process the change - what we think it means, how to communicate it to others.  But this is not a totally bad thing.  Eclipses bring about sudden change and sometimes we need to internally process changes to make sense of external happenings that shift our reality. Here Mercury Rx is providing such an opportunity.

Using sage or palo santo to smudge your home, and placing protective crystals like black tourmaline or obsidian around your home or wearing/carrying them with you may assist in keeping you grounded during eclipse season.

Wishing you the best as you navigate the Virgo Worm Blood Lunar Eclipse.
